PROBLEM-SOLVING & ADAPTABILITY
We were challenged to develop a light-weight solution due to existing and future rooftop structural loading. Aluminum platforms with non-invasive equipment pad bases were the best solution
Fabrication and Installation
Completed the project on budget
Project Summary
CVG Builders contracted us to design, fabricate, and install (8) rooftop aluminum maintenance platforms for their client (Altos Labs) in Redwood City, CA. The recently installed rooftop mechanical equipment needed a non-invasive lightweight solution for accessing air handler skids for periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.
The project team collaborated on the best solution for this application and developed a modular system that would accelerate field installation and enhance safety for staff. Upon approval of conceptual renderings, our team delivered a comprehensive set of structural drawings, which were submitted to the city for permitting. Soon after shop drawings were approved we fabricated 90% of the system at our Anaheim, CA facility and transported everything as a prefabricated “kit” to the jobsite in Redwood City, CA.
Installation was successfully carried out in approximately 8 working days for all 8 units. The onsite scope involved mobilization of all material, installation of structural supports, assembly of access ladders, and securing safety guardrails. Due the roof slope conditions is was determined the most efficient means of installation was to field locate and punch all leg extensions holes to ensure a level working platform. Lastly, safety inspections and city inspection completed the project.
